New 3T MRI at WMI
New Generation of MRI system at The Wesley Hospital
In line with our vision to provide the most advanced medical imaging and the highest quality healthcare for Queenslanders we are pleased to announce the installation of two new revolutionary MRI scanners at Wesley Medical Imaging.

• 3-Tesla Siemens MAGNETOM (Skyra) in November 2011 and;
• 1.5 Tesla Siemens MAGNETOM (Aera) in April 2012

Both these systems represent the pinnacle of commercially available magnets in their class

The co-location of both wide bore 48 channel 3T and 1.5T magnets in a private radiology clinic is a first for Queensland and Australia. It allows us to target the specific needs of all your patients, and offer a wide range of complementary services, including image guided biopsy and research.

What does this mean for your patients?

• Faster scanning times
• Improved comfort for all types of patients
(including obese and paediatric patients)
• Consistently superior diagnosis

The Skyra and Area have several new features which will lead to improved patient comfort and diagnosis.

New Generation of MRI system at The Wesley Hospital

Largest available internal bore diameter

An internal bore diameter of 70cm is the largest available. It will provided an improved patient experience, with no loss of image quality due to superior magnetic field homogeneity.

Largest weight capacity

More patients are accommodated with the largest commercial capacity of 250kg.

New digital radio frequency transmission

New digital technology provides substantial reduction in signal to noise leading to a better image clarity.

Automated scanning protocols

New "smart" scanning protocols are remembered to ensure consistent image acquisition by different operators for follow up studies.

Lighter coils

As the coil is placed on the patient for image formation, lighter coils means greater comfort for the patient.

New coil technology

With the new coil technology, exquisite detail for dedicated musculoskeletal, brain and spine diagnosis can be displayed.

Sedation and general anaesthesia

Wesley Medical Imaging will remain one of the few sites to off er examinations performed with intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia in the safety of a hospital environment.

Wesley Medical Imaging

Whole body imaging

This scanner is one of the new class to incorporate extended body coverage in one session, utilising linked-coil arrays incorporated into the table top, and eliminating the need to move patients between scans.
